Fifth Wimbledon Title For Venus

Venus Williams made it Wimbledon title number five as she beat younger sister Serena 7-5, 6-4 in a closely fought match on centre court which threw any conspiracy theories well and truly out of the window as clearly both players were going all out to win the Women's crown.

After clinching the win the celebrations were somewhat muted from Venus out of respect for her sibling although there was something for Serena to cheer after all as she and Venus won their third Wimbledon doubles crown by defeating Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-2 in a powerful display.

Next on the agenda is the Men's final which was stoked up slightly today with comments made by Roger Federer drawing attention to the Rafael Nadal serve and in particular the time the Spaniard takes before serving although Nadal later shrugged off the comments.

WHEN WILL THE TENNIS AUTHORITIES BAN THE APPALLING SCREECHING AND GRUNTING; QUITE RUINING TENNIS MATCHES FOR MOST PEOPLE AND WHAT ABOUT THE LONG TERM DAMAGE TO THE THROATS OF THE PLAYERS IN LATER LIFE; TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, AS BAD AS EYEGOUGING IN RUGBY.

I don't mind a little grunt here and there as it shows they are working hard. Some players are louder than others and i agree that can be a little distracting for the spectators. Not sure about the long term damage though. Benadryl always works for my sore throat.
